As an executive coach and life coach, I recently experienced an interesting situation that taught me a valuable lesson. Allow me to share this story from the Stand Out Stars Week of Kindness & Gratitude Summit, where I had the pleasure of addressing a group of 350 enthusiastic individuals. After the event, I eagerly planned to follow up with each participant and express my gratitude by sending them a special gift.
Now, I had recently adopted new software for my email campaigns, which brought about a bit of uncertainty. Despite my best efforts, I wasn't entirely confident about the technicalities. Nevertheless, I uploaded the list of attendees and hit the send button, only to realize later that the URLs in the emails were broken. Panic set in momentarily, but I swiftly devised a plan to rectify the situation.
Without delay, I sent out a second email with the subject line, "Whoops! Here is the correct URL." However, in my haste, I unintentionally triggered the following email in the sequence to be sent as well. Consequently, within a span of just 30 minutes, my recipients received not one, not two, but three emails from me. Initially, I worried about the impression this would leave—would people think I'm erratic or unprofessional? I feared potential unsubscribes and the missed opportunities that could result.
Fortunately, I had a powerful tool in my arsenal to combat these negative thoughts—an effective hack for taming my inner critic. I invite you to try it out too. Imagine your thoughts as a program running in your mind, similar to an operating system. When you make a mistake, rather than berating yourself, it's time to upgrade your mental software with new, empowering thoughts. Here's a thought to consider: "Oh, I'm so sexy!"
You may wonder why I suggest this. Well, the truth is, people are naturally more drawn to those who embrace their imperfections rather than appearing flawless. By acknowledging your mistakes and embracing them with a touch of humor, you become more alluring. So go ahead and tell yourself the truth—making mistakes makes you sexier. It allows you to laugh, learn, and move forward to your next exciting adventure.
Now, let's shift gears and ponder your upcoming adventure where you get to unleash your inner sexy. What lies ahead? What's the next bold step you're about to take? Embrace it with confidence, knowing that each experience, including the occasional misstep, contributes to your irresistible allure.
